Designed for reliable Sorghum breeding performance.
Maintaining seed purity while protecting developing plants from unwanted wind-borne pollen is a significant challenge in sorghum breeding, whether conducted in the field or in controlled environments. PBS International pollination bags have been developed specifically to address these challenges, helping breeders maintain genetic integrity while supporting healthy plant development throughout the breeding process.
Independent, peer-reviewed research has demonstrated that PBS pollination bags provide excellent protection against unwanted pollen contamination while improving seed set and overall seed health when compared with alternative bag types. Studies have also shown significant reductions in grain mould, near-total protection from bird damage in sorghum trials. Given that pollination bags typically account for only a small proportion of breeding programme costs, selecting the right material can significantly improve breeding success. This is especially important during the seed scale up phase where the benefit in increased seed yield cannot be under-estimated.
The PBS duraweb® family of materials has been developed specifically for plant breeding applications. Stronger and more durable than traditional paper or plastic alternatives, duraweb® provides excellent airflow and light transmission while creating a natural microclimate around the developing seed head. Suitable for both field and glasshouse use, it helps maintain plant health while delivering the reliable pollination control that sorghum breeders depend upon.
The pollination bags work great! Nothing for you to do better!
