Controlled pollination is essential in forestry breeding, where maintaining genetic purity and producing healthy, viable seeds is critical to long-term breeding success. Extensive collaborative trials with both Embrapa and the NCSU Co-operative Tree Improvement programme* has shown that PBS International pollination bags take this further with remarkable improvements compared to paper and plastic bags in flower survival and cone/seed yield.
Manufactured from the proprietary duraweb® family of materials, PBS pollination bags offer excellent breathability and light transmission, creating a favourable microclimate around the developing flowers. Unlike traditional paper bags, duraweb® helps reduce moisture build-up while allowing the plant to continue developing naturally, supporting healthy seed production in both field and nursery environments. Without the need for a wire, using PBS CMP.55 bags in controlled mass pollination can reduce labour times by up to 60%.
