In November 2025, our Commercial Director, Anton Vickers, attended IPOC 2025, the ISOPB 2025 conference, and PIPOC 2025 across Indonesia and Malaysia. Here, Anton reflects on key takeaways and insights from the three events, and exciting innovations taking place across the oil palm market that PBS International is proud to support.
After an amazing couple of weeks in Asia attending a range of trade conferences and speaking to customers, we’re reminded that there is no substitute for face-to-face interactions.
Starting with IPOC, it was amazing to see the region’s drive to increase the use of palm oil as a biofuel. Coupled with the replanting required to maintain the plantations, it’s clear that there’s no slowing down of this market. The passion of our Indonesian customers is going strong, and we are proud to support you alongside our Indonesian distributor CV-BPU with pollination bags that offer increased seed yield and reduced contamination for palm oil crops.
Over in Malaysia, the ISOPB conference gave unique insight into advancements in plant breeding and development – from shorter trees, to more scientific testing, to further improving the varieties of oil palm seed. There is so much happening in the market right now beyond just operating great plantations! We also learned more about the world of tissue culture – taking a snip of a leaf and growing this into a full blown oil palm tree – a process that takes years to realise.
After ISOPB, we attended the MPOB conference with our Malaysian distributor Biotek Abadi. The level of pride and passion we see from the seed producers we work with is second to none, and to hear first-hand the benefits our bags have made to your operations is quite humbling.
All that said, our work at PBS International continues as we constantly strive to improve – from breaking down trade barriers to discussing how best to stop monkeys opening the bags, there’s always a challenge we can work with customers to overcome!
We are always happy to listen and take feedback from our customers – our goal is to deliver world class pollination control solutions and we intend to continue this mission for years to come!
